Issue 8: The Women’s issue
THE WOMEN’S ISSUE IS COMING
This issue is about the grief women carry while still showing up, getting dressed, answering texts, and being told we’re “so strong.” It’s about the losses that don’t always get casseroles—or even language—but live loudly in our bodies and lives anyway.
We’re calling for contributors who want to write boldly, honestly, and without toning it down about:
Pregnancy loss, miscarriage, stillbirth, and birth trauma
Breakups, divorce, partner loss and the absolute audacity of starting over
Body grief: weight gain, weight loss, aging, and bodies that refuse to stay the same
Perimenopause and menopause (yes, we’re talking about it)
Identity loss, reinvention, and becoming someone you didn’t plan on
Caregiving, emotional labor, and being tired in ways sleep can’t fix
Motherhood—in all its messy, complicated forms
Empty nesting and the strange quiet that follows
Life changes that knock the wind out of you
If your grief has opinions, a personality, or a sense of humor—We want it.
Apply for Issue 8 by 2/16/26
To apply for Issue 8, we’re asking for a $20 application fee. This helps cover the cost of maintaining this free platform—and the time, care, and energy it takes to turn your words into a thoughtfully designed, beautiful spread.
Not all submissions will be accepted (we wish we could publish everything), but we hope to say yes to as many as possible. Pieces we’re unable to include in the print issue may be considered for publication on our online blog or digital content.
Your writing does not need to be exclusive to Get Griefy. If it has been shared on your personal blog or Substack, that’s okay. However, we cannot accept work that has been previously published on other platforms or publications.
Thank you for valuing this work—and the labor behind holding space for these stories.
Please purchase and submit by 2/16/26 to meet deadlines.
