Honor & Remember: A Día de los Muertos Virtual Workshop

Join Get Griefy for a meaningful virtual gathering to honor, remember, and celebrate the lives of our loved ones through the traditions of Día de los Muertos (Day of the Dead).

During this interactive workshop, we'll briefly explore the cultural significance and traditions of Día de los Muertos through a cross-cultural perspective, reflecting on the different ways communities honor and remember those who have died.

Together, we'll create virtual remembrance altars (ofrendas) using Canva, providing a creative and personal space to celebrate the memories, stories, and lasting connections we share with our loved ones.

What to Expect:

  • A brief introduction to Día de los Muertos traditions and their cultural significance

  • A guided, collaborative experience creating your own virtual remembrance altar

  • A welcoming space for reflection, creativity, connection, and remembrance

  • An opportunity to share your completed altar with the Get Griefy community

What You'll Need: Some familiarity with Canva is recommended, as participants will receive a Canva template to create their virtual altars.

Workshop Facilitator: Kera Sanchez, Get Griefy Editor-in-Chief and secondary Spanish educator with over 15 years of teaching experience.

Duration: Approximately 1 hour

Proceeds help fund Get Griefy Magazine’s Digital Subscriptions and Tools!

Participants are welcome, but never required, to share their completed altars with Get Griefy for possible features on our social media platforms.

Whether you're honoring someone who died recently or remembering a loved one who has been gone for years, this workshop offers an opportunity to celebrate their life, preserve their memory, and connect with others through remembrance.

Come as you are, bring your memories, and create something meaningful in honor of those who will always be part of your story.

The $25 helps fund Get Griefy Magazine and the subscriptions needed to keep our Magazine Running!
